Australian legislation is intended to ensure that every person in Australia feels secure and happy within their families, friendship groups, and communities as a whole. Any act of violence done on another person is prohibited and punishable by law. Domestic and marital violence includes placing a spouse in danger or threatening them in order to control them by making them fearful. Domestic and familial violence involves isolating family members from their relatives and friends, as well as actual physical abuse against the individual.
